Awning design
The study and evolution of Mectend products is entrusted to experienced designers for awnings production, based in modernly designed offices. In fact, the offices are equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software using tools such as AutoCad and Inventor workstations for 3D modeling.
The development and verification of designs is done through trials and tests on prototypes obtained through state-of-the-art 3D printer. This allows Mectend’s technicians to obtain a production-ready product that is always of high quality and dedicated to customer satisfaction.
Awning production
Mectend’s foundry and workshops are equipped with the most modern and technological equipment, dedicated to accessories’ awnings production. Drilling and tapping of workpieces is done by drills and threading machines equipped with multiple heads. Arm assembly operations are handled by machines with hydraulic power packs. Instead, numerically controlled cutting and bending machines are used for profile cutting to center the profiles. Hydraulic presses are used to assemble parts.
The raw materials used for accessories’ awnings production are of high quality level. For castings, we use primary alloys and for finishing parts, thermoplastic molds. Screws and pearls are made of stainless steel. Due to the size of the industrial site consisting in more than 100,000sqm, the space is functionally designed with warehouses, processing and assembly areas, commercial/technical area and a vast showroom.
Awnings Logistics
Mectend has its own vehicles for the transportation of customer orders. This is because it needs to reach its customers more quickly to look after their interests to the fullest.
With our own means of transportation, we deliver throughout northern and central Italy, and with couriers we serve the rest of the country.
For overseas deliveries, Mectend cooperates with partner transportation companies. We ensure timely and careful delivery of goods to all our customers.
Certification
Mectend is aware of the challenges and opportunities that the market imposes daily. For this reason, the company considers it essential to have an organizational system to harmonize and control processes. Information gathering is useful for strategic business planning. In fact, it is necessary to ensure greater internal efficiency and a better readiness to meet customers’ needs. In 2003 Mectend obtained its Quality System Certification according to the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 standard.
Mectend was one of the first companies in the awnings production industry to achieve this. After years of experience and continuous improvement of its Quality System, Mectend decided to rely on Bureau Veritas in order to ensure new inputs and constant growth. In 2010, a transition to UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 was achieved, and in 2017 to UNI EN ISO 9001:2015. Mectend has committed to continuous improvement, to keep the company always up to date in order to meet the demands of its customers.
Wind resistance test
In 1994 ASSITES (Italian Awning Association) formed a working group made of the largest companies from the sector, including Mectend, with the aim of creating a document called ASSITES Rep. 41/95 – Experimental Awning Standards. In 1999, the collaboration between ASSITES and CATAS (Italian Institute for Research and Testing in the Wood-Furniture Sector) began. Pioneering companies, including Mectend, began a Resistance testing program. In 2003, in order to receive practical feedback during the design phase, Mectend created its own in-house laboratory.
The company thus anticipated the legislation of 2006 and incorporated compliance with European Directives 89/106/EEC and 98/37/EC into its ISO 9001 Quality System. This enabled the company to mark its products with CE Mark, a requirement, which later become mandatory. Further adjustments were implemented with the release of EU Regulation no. 305/2011 and Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Today, Mectend is a technically advanced company, always keeping up with updates on relevant regulations, able to guarantee tested for safety CE-marked products and related legally required documentation.
