Are there really 30,000 awning accessories? The awnings are made up of various components, which, combined with the fabrics, make up the finished product.
Mectend produces all its awnings accessories and combines them with the fabric to make the finished awning. Awnings are divided into 4 different categories: awnings with folding arms, vertical drop awnings, also complete with pivot arms, Dutch awnings and side rail awnings. There are also shelter systems as fixed structures for entrances and OUTDOOR products such as pergolas and parasols.
AWNINGS ACCESSORIES
Awnings are made up of many components that create the structure of the awning, which is then completed by the fabric. Mainly we refer to metal awnings accessories, which are divided into foundry products, made of aluminium alloy or stainless steel. Plastic accessories are produced with plastic moulding.
METALLIC AWNINGS ACCESSORIES
Metal awnings accessories are divided into various types, from the smallest for generic functions to the more specific ones. Part of the generic metal accessories are various pins, cleats, dowels, stops, fins, washers, supports, forks, screws and nuts used for the assembly of the various awnings. These can be made of aluminium or stainless steel.
GENERIC AWNINGS ACCESSORIES in METAL
The crank handle, generally made of aluminium, is attached to the gear for the manual opening of the awning. It is then fixed to the wall with the locking clip, another metal accessory. This can be customized from a number of colours, depending on the style of awning to which it is applied.
The fixing magnet kit is an alternative to the hook for attaching the handle to the gear.
The aluminium gear is a component that fits into the galvanized roller tube support to allow the winding or unwinding of the fabric with consequent closing or opening of the awning.
The galvanized roller tube is used to wind the awning fabric when closed. This component is found in most awnings. The aluminium front rail is also used in most awnings, in this case to fix the fabric on the side opposite the roller tube.
The brackets and spacers are used to install the awning onto the wall or ceiling.
The protective hood with supports is designed to protect the awning or pergola fabric from bad weather when it remains closed. Similarly, the cassette is positioned in the upper part of the awning to protect the fabric, which will be wound inside it. The cassette is not suitable for all awning models.
The lateral caps are used as side closures for the protective hood, alternatively, in the square bar, they have the function of holding the roller tube.
The motor support is used to fix the motor to the awning for automated opening.
THE SPECIFIC AWNINGS ACCESSORIES in METAL
Folding arms, on the other hand, are typical of arm awnings. They are used to extend the opening of the awning and create shaded areas in the space outside the window or balcony to which they are installed. Vertical drop awnings also have some models with aluminium arms used to partially extend the awning outside and increase shading from the sun.
The square or rectangular bar is part of the load-bearing structure of the awning and is used exclusively on some models of arm awnings and side guides awnings. It is an alternative to the side brackets because it allows to have multiple fixing brackets distributed onto the bar for installation onto the wall, where necessary. Furthermore, the fixing brackets, in this case, are independent of the folding arms and therefore the bar allows the use of multiple arms.
Aluminium guides are used for vertical drop awnings and side guides awnings, laterally, to keep the fabric guided during the winding and unwinding of the awning. The adjustable feet are also typical of vertical drop awnings with guides to align the awning to the floor. The fabric reinforcement profile is used for vertical drop awnings to prevent the fabric from coming loose off the guides.
The aluminium windbreak, used in vertical drop and side guide awnings, is an intermediate profile that is positioned behind/under the fabric to prevent the fabric from inflating during strong wind days.
The offset spring in the arm awnings helps to roll up and unroll the awning (it eases the effort).
In the spring-operated side guide awnings, when the fabric is pulled with the cord to open the awning, the spring gets loaded. When the fabric is unrolled and fixed with the pins, the tension of the spring, which attempts to retract the material, ensures that the fabric remains taut.
AWNINGS ACCESSORIES in NYLON
Mectend boasts, among its various products, plastic coverings of metal pieces for embellishing the finished product. For example, covers are used to enclose some elements, which would otherwise remain open and exposed to possible damage.
Among other nylon accessories, we have cleats, flanges, adjustable feet, finishing caps, covers, etc.
Rubber gaskets are applied to the end of the fabric of vertical awnings, to function as draft excluders. Similarly, a nylon draft excluder brush is applied to the cassette or terminal.
A fabric cleaning brush is often used inside the cassette or along the side guides to facilitate maintenance of the fabric.
In Dutch awnings the rope passes inside the frame to make it function. There are also a series of nylon accessories, such as the curve, the spacers, the hinge, the pulley, the couplings, etc. that make up the Dutch awnings. Whilst the frame is made of aluminium.
ACCESSORIES FOR ALL AWNINGS
Mectend manufactures all its awnings in a complete production cycle. The accessories for awnings are also self-produced in its manufacturing plants. The number of components needed to create an awning is surprising. It is certainly advantageous to be able to produce internally accessories for a set of awning to gain greater flexibility and to offer innovative products, providing a service that is attentive to customer needs.
